Wine Helix

It's hard to pick favourites but...

This new cellar from Jacobson Construction is
a real beauty.
Walnut racking, quartz counters, tile running from the floor up the wall, ceiling mounted cooling unit, glass wall and door with oil-rubbed bronze hardware, and then there's these...

An original design and built by Jacobson Construction in house.
I'm calling it a wine helix.  First the posts were turned on the lathe, then a series of holes were drilled into the centre.  Every hole shifts a little further around the circumference, traveling 180 degrees from top to bottom.  The effect is a little like a spiral staircase... made from wine bottles:)

Insert "Stairway to Heaven" joke here.

I am pretty proud of this.

Hall Table #1

Introducing
the achingly beautiful
Hall Table #1

Open cubby below, drawers above.

Set off by tapered legs and a gorgeous, live edge top.

Coloured epoxy fills the knot-hole.

Drawers open...

...with a push.

Walnut veneer wraps around the back of the cabinet,
allowing the piece to function as a room divider.

A welcome sight at home.

Walnut Vanity

A beautiful new vanity from Jacobson Construction.

Vessel sinks, deck-mounted faucets, and quartz countertops
compliment the walnut drawer fronts and face frame.

One side for her...

and for him.

Simple, shaker style inset doors with push to open slides make a nice, clean look.
The walnut is finished by hand with a smoother plane and unstained.
A simple clear coat highlights the wood's natural colours.
